Best and Worst: How Has Your Week Been?

Hey party people, a happy Friday to you all.

Welcome to Best and Worst, a Mamamia tradition where we have a chat about how our week has been, peaks and pitfalls.

I’ll kick us off with the best part of my week:

Being the foodie that I am (and convinced that I may have been a Vietnamese food critic in a past life), this week I made the pilgrimage to the Night Noodle Markets in Sydney’s Hyde Park. This annual culinary extravaganza features over 50 Asian food stalls of deliciousness, from sweet to savory and Ramen to Roti.

Night Noodle Markets, you’re the one pho me.

I probably spent too much time waiting in lines and too much money on mango pancakes and prawn dumplings, but I loved every minute spent soaking up the buzz of this outdoor food festival.

Spending a balmy spring evening with a good friend under lanterns with taste buds tantalized left my tummy and my soul smiling.

My FOMO for missing out on a visit to the Messina pop-up will be addressed next week, when I return for round two.

Worst:

The worst part of my week was waking up this morning to the news that Oscar Pistorius will be released from jail next week.

Oscar Pistorius to be moved to house arrest

He has served less than 12 months of his five-year manslaughter sentence for killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp on Valentines Day 2013. Now, he could be leaving jail forever.

On November 3, an appeal to South Africa’s supreme court could secure a murder conviction for Pistorius with a sentence of 15 years jail time. In the meantime, Reeva’s parents remain heartbroken;

“Nothing will bring Reeva back,” said a lawyer representing the Steenkamps.

Over to you – what have the best and worst parts of your week been?
