The best life hacks are the ones that make you wonder, Why didn’t I think of that? From a DIY gel liner to using a Band-Aid for nail art (yes, really), read on for 14 brilliant beauty hacks every woman should have for those days we oversleep or when makeup mastery evades us… read: every day.
BEAUTY HACK #1. Draw a cross to get a perfect cupid’s bow.
Try it and you’ll never apply liner or lipstick in any other way.
BEAUTY HACK #2. DIY Gel liner.
Hold your eye pencil under a flame for one second, let it cool down for 15 seconds and you’ve got an instant gel eyeliner. Genius!
BEAUTY HACK #3. Shaving Cream swap.
Run out of shaving cream? Reach for the hair conditioner. It’ll give you the same close shave with added moisturising benefits.
BEAUTY HACK #4. Band-Aid nail art cheat.
This one had us thinking, why didn’t we think of this first? Rather self-explanatory: place a Band-Aid over your nail, paint on your desired spot colour, wait for it to dry and voila! an envy-inducing polkadot mani even the steadiest hand couldn’t replicate.
BEAUTY HACK #5. Make your lipstick last.
Apply your lipstick, place a tissue over your lips, then brush over it lightly with translucent powder. The powder will seep through the tissue, making it last all day.
BEAUTY HACK #6. Yoghurt pimple mask.
Pimples are the worst. No wait, pimples and wrinkles are the worst. Spot treat pimples naturally by applying 100 per cent Greek yoghurt and leaving it overnight. How it works: the lactic acid in the yoghurt will help to clear it up and the probiotics have natural bacteria-fighting properties, which helps it stop spreading.
BEAUTY HACK #7. The easiest smokey eye EVER.
Draw a hashtag shape onto the outer corner of your eye with an eye pencil (a chubby one works best) and blend it with your finger or brush. That’s it, you’re done!

Use sticky tape across your nails instead of the expensive strips in the shops to do a french manicure - but don't leave on for long as otherwise you end up with residue :-)
The liquid highlighter in foundation trick is something I do every day, although mostly in tinted moisturiser as I only use foundation for special occasions. I mostly use the Nars orgasm one but have also used other colours and brands, a cheaper alternative to Nars (although one tube lasts me most of the year as I only need such a small bit) is the Mecca lit from within highlighting primer. In summer I add a very small bit of liquid bronzer like the Stilla or Chantecaille ones as they usually have a highlighting property also and add just that little bit of summer glow with out looking orange.
