Sportsman in a cheating scandal? Surely not.

A former footballer has allegedly had an affair, and everyone’s up in arms about it.

This is not without precedent (Brendan Fevola and Lara Bingle, anyone?), but it seems everyone thought that Beau Ryan, 30, was different.

Former Sharks player Ryan has reportedly stood down from his position on The Footy Show panel after being accused of having an affair with former Hi-5 performer Lauren Brant, 26.

Ryan has been married to his high school sweetheart Kara Orrell since 2012 and the two have a daughter, Remi, 2, together.

The allegations of impropriety were made by Brant’s ex-fiance, Warren Riley, who told Woman’s Day that the affair occurred after Brant and Ryan took part in a performance of Aladdin and His Wondrous Lamp earlier this year.

Warren said Brant, who has also appeared on I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, came clean to her then-fiance on holidays to New Zealand.

“She owned up to everything. She said she’d slept with him [Ryan] on two occasions in her hotel after rehearsals,” he said.

The affair allegedly occurred in July.

“She said after they’d taken the photos they were still kind of staying pretty close to each other and then they started making out.”

Riley and Brant split after she told him about the affair.

“We were supposed to be together forever. She was just about to become my wife.”

Brant launched her own kids’ clothing line, called LoliBoli by Lauren. Ryan’s daughter Remi can be seen wearing an outfit from the line in a picture uploaded to Instagram nine weeks ago.

Ryan wrote, “Remi is pumped with her new Sharks @lolibolibylauren Sharks dress.”

Of course, now Brant is the one in the firing line, being accused of being a homewrecker, despite her own engagement breaking up.

Ryan is now reportedly on holidays with his family, attempting to repair the damage.

“Beau and his family are on holiday spending much needed time together and we have no comment to make on their personal life,” a spokesperson for Channel Nine told Fairfax Media.

A comment on Ryan’s Instagram account accuses the former Cronulla player of being, well, a player.

“Ask him about [another celebrity name], Kara… or better yet, ask her. He can’t stop chasing skirt. Get away from this mongrel,” it reads.
