This morning’s good news is brought to you by Moccona.
Sometimes it feels like we’re just surrounded by bad news.
When you turn on the TV or scroll through Facebook, you can’t escape the horrible things going on in the world.
That’s why it’s good to focus on the happy stuff from time to time.
Like right now, for instance. For the next few weeks, we’ll be bringing you Moccona Mondays – a series of feel-good, happy news stories to help you get your week off to a good start.
These stories will get you through Monday with a smile on your face.
1. Watch rescue beagles put their paws on grass for the first time.
This is the kind of story that will make you happy-cry. Five beagles who have spent their entire lives in metal laboratory cages in South Korea have finally felt grass on their paws for the very first time.
A video published by the lab animal rescue group called Beagle Freedom Project shows the dogs tentatively taking in their new surroundings after travelling to find forever homes in Los Angeles.
You can watch it in full below (post continues after video):
According to the Beagle Freedom Project, the laboratory had planned to euthanise the dogs before Korean animal welfare groups stepped in.
“They just have to learn they are now safe, secure and protected,” veterinarian Dr Steven Manyak-Royzman says in the video.
Is someone cutting onions in here?!
2. Dog captures proposal on puppy-cam.
Some people get their friends and family to film their marriage proposal, while some hire professionals for the event.
But this guy went with man’s best friend.
When Kurt Gies proposed to his girlfriend earlier this month, he strapped a GoPro to his dog Roo’s back with a special camera harness to capture the moment.
You can watch the adorable results below (post continues after video):
We think he got a few extra treats after that performance.
3. Boy wins world’s heart with a small act of kindness.
If you’re not happy-crying yet, this one will get you for sure. A five-year-old boy in the US has brought an entire restaurant to tears with one incredible act of kindness.
Josiah Duncan was eating with his mum, Ava Faulk, at a waffle house when he noticed a homeless man standing outside. When Josiah asked him mum about the man’s troubling appearance, Ava explained that the man had no home or food.
Josiah then urged his mum to buy the man dinner and so she did.
“He came in and sat down, and nobody really waited on him,” Ava told local network WSFA 12.
“So Josiah jumped up and asked him if he needed a menu because you can’t order without one.”
Before the man started eating Josiah insisted on saying grace with him, bringing the other 11 diners in the restaurant to tears.
“The man cried. I cried. Everybody cried,” Ava said.
“You never know who the angel on Earth is, and when the opportunity comes you should never walk away from it,” she added. “Watching my son touch the 11 people in that Waffle House tonight will be forever one of the greatest accomplishments as a parent I’ll ever get to witness.”
There you go – we’re guessing you’ll be able to face the day more easily now. Just remember that for every piece of depressing news out there, somewhere in the world, there’s also a puppy helping to pull off a romantic proposal.
Happy Monday.
