Baz Luhrmann's stunning Sydney house is on the market.

Baz Luhrmann and his Oscar-winning wife Catherine Martin have put their Sydney home on the market. And it’s as stylish as … well, a Baz Lurhmann film.

The house, in the Sydney suburb of Darlinghurst, has 9 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, two self-contained guest apartments, a temperature-controlled wine cellar and a pool that would be at home in The Great Gatsby.

(FYI Baz – you had us at ‘9 bedrooms’.)

The 1800s Victorian Manor house comes with a hefty price tag. It will set you back a staggering $16 million.

The heritage listed property was originally built for pastoralist Edward Chisolm in the early 1800s, and became the jewel in the Luhrmann property crown in 2006, when they purchased it for $10 million.

They had previously leased the property since 1997.

Luhrmann and Martin, who between them have two children, two Oscars (her's) and a Golden Globe (his) have been married since 1997.

They have called Sydney home for the majority of that time. Since being purchased by the creative pair, the house has been refurbished.

The decision to sell the house comes after the families recent move to New York.

Luhrmann, who is currently working on a Netflix production, said in a joint statement with his wife: "As we have been spending shorter periods of time in Australia and are more full time in New York, our priorities centre around a settled school life for our children."

But they said they would "never abandon Australia".

According to Domain, they are believed to be looking for a smaller base in Sydney.
