Okay Australia, we’ve been outed! Despite our laid-back reputation, we are a nation of career-lovin’ job-a-holics who love our work more than our partners.
New research has surveyed workers and asked what gives them the most confidence – career or love? The majority of Australians chose career, with love coming in a close second.
Does that sound about right?
It seems silly to love a job more than a partner, after all, our careers don’t cuddle us late at night (or do they, people who sleep with their laptops?). So we’ve decided to conduct our own research and find out if this startling research is true.
Do you love your job more than your partner? Answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to each of these questions to find out what makes you feel good about yourself.
1. You sleep with your phone, pad or laptop close or nearby?
2. You have 'shushed' your partner when he/she attempted to engage you while you were reading an important work email.
3. You get really dressed up for work but rarely put an effort in for your partner.
4. On weekends you miss work and sometimes do some on the sly.
5. The thought of losing your job makes you feel sick.
6. The thought of losing your partner makes you want to sign up to RSVP.
7. You constant ask your boss if they are happy with you, if there's anything you can do to be better.
8. Your work Christmas party is the highlight of your year (and you forgot your wedding anniversary this year).
