Dear Australia Post: Why is my package going on an adventure?

Want to add some vacation flair to the letter you’re sending a few doors down? Look no further than Australia Post which might just take that Sydney to Sydney mail and give it a taste of Darwin sun.

Some amusing anecdotes from Australia Post customer have been popping up in the Australia Post’s Product Review page over recent weeks for people confused about why local mail is holidaying interstate.

Users are following these trips via Australia Post’s online tracking service.

In one instance, mail that began its journey in Melbourne’s Docklands to be sent to local suburb Moonee Ponds was taken to the sunny destination of Granville, NSW.

Most users have directed their confusion to the ‘Question and Answer’ page but one user, SaraN from Brisbane, has taken her parcel’s 1986 km detour to the general reviews section.

The Question and Answer section offers Australia Post the option of responding via the ‘Answer this’ link. However, even they seem baffled and a little surprised.

We’re not sure either, Emma.

I recently retired after 35 years in Australia Post & was very disappointed when buying items online found that items from overseas got to me quicker than items from SYDNEY . I have been waiting now for 5 days for a EXPRESS POST item again from SYDNEY guaranteed within 3 working days to arrive . The FEDERAL LIBERAL GOVERNMENT is allowing this to happen so they can sell OZ POST to private enterprise as they have with other utilities , as they have been trying to do this for years by letting it all run down as we who worked there can testify .They contract the cheapest labour to deliver , who only care about delivering as quick as possible without care , whilst POSTIES & others who care get the blame . After putting in a redirection , confirm if you can with your POSTIE if you can that they have received the redirection , as they will receive it a day prior to commencement & as for "delivered parcels" each driver has a scanner , which records bar codes on each parcel , some of which need signatures , but once scanned as "delivered" , there isn't anyway of OZ POST knowing what has happened to the parcel only the drivers word

Sent two parcels in yellow postbox particularly for Express Post Next Day delivery, in the correct satchels, to postcodes in the Next Day delivery list. One arrived at destination 3 days later, other 4 days. When I first questioned Australia Post investigations, was told I misunderstood the tracking page. Sent screenshots showing the dates, along with questioning why did I pay extra to not get the service I paid for. No explanation but told I would be send replacement satchels. You guessed it... never received them.... follow up emails were never answered....
