Mesmerising video morphs every Archibald Prize winner into the next.

See how Australia’s most famous art prize has evolved over the past century, as the faces of every winner from 1921 to 2015 morph into each other.

This year's winner, Newcastle artist Nigel Milsom, struck up a friendship with his subject, barrister Charles Waterstreet, while facing charges of armed robbery.

Waterstreet, who is also known as the inspiration for the ABC show Rake, represented Milsom, and the artist said he wanted the portrait to represent both the hope he felt when Waterstreet helped him, and the barrister's complex character.
