She spent her formative years dressed in bonnets and plain clothing but Breaking Amish star Kate Stoltz is swapping the long dresses for lingerie.
Now 23, the former reality show star left the confines of the Amish community in Pennsylvania where she was raised to make it in New York as a model.
One thing’s for sure, she’s definitely making headlines.
In a shoot for the New York Post, the 23-year-old is more 50 Shades of Grey‘s Anastasia Steele than Amish.
“A year ago, I never would have done a lingerie shoot,” says Stolz. “I don’t know if I’ve become more comfortable with myself or with the idea.”
The racy shoot follows on from one she did for Maxim last year, which was decidedly less risqué. Rather than donning her bra and undies, Stolz then wore a revealing, but still tame by men’s mag standards, denim bustier and high-waisted shorts.
According to the New York Post article, unlike many others leaving the Amish faith, she still remains in contact with her parents.
As for what they think?
“They know what I am doing but they … avoid the subject,” says Stolz.
If you haven’t caught an episode of Breaking Amish yet, it focuses on five young Amish men and women over the course of 10 weeks as they experience life, for the first time, outside of the confines of their faith. They have to make the tough decision to return to their communities, or to remain outside their old communities and face potential ostracism by their family and friends.
Fascinating stuff.

Young people are encouraged to immerse themselves in modern culture before deciding whether or not to go back.
There is no reason that her parents wouldn't speak to her.
I hope she makes the right decision in the end. Amish life is strict but is there anything more shallow or soul destroying than being a model for men's mags?
I loved the series of Breaking Amish that I saw, where the exchange was with England. I loved that those clear-skinned, clear-eyed girls engaged up to the limits of their modesty and went surfing (or the UK equivalent!) having decided that the wetsuits were modest enough. They wouldn't engage with a drunken rave, however. And they were totally free of bitchiness or value judgements on others. You could see how jaded their party animal, wealthy, bored English "new friends" were. Such a lesson in the value of firm values. There is so much to like about the Amish.
