‘He wanted me fired, and dressed like Johnny Depp.’ Amber Heard's allegations against Jason Momoa have leaked.

A new investigation into the second Aquaman film has exposed choppy waters on the film's set.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, starring Jason Momoa as the title superhero and Amber Heard as Mera, is the next big superhero film release, but it's already marred by controversy.

In mid-September, the film's trailer was released. But on the same day, notes written by Heard's therapist during her legal woes with her ex-husband Johnny Depp surfaced on Reddit.

They have now been publicised further by a Variety investigation into the making of the movie.

The documents comprise notes from Heard's therapist, Dr Dawn Hughes, which were part of 2022's highly publicised Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial. Depp fans paid court fees to release them.

Dr Hughes' notes include allegations that Momoa arrived on the film's set drunk and dressed like Heard's ex-husband, Johnny Depp.

"Jason said he wanted me fired," the notes read. "Jason drunk - late on set. Dressing like Johnny. Has all the rings too."

A source close to Heard, who declined to comment to Variety, confirmed the notes reflect a therapy session Heard had on December 27, 2021.

Momoa's representative also would not comment, but a spokesperson for DC said "he conducted himself in a professional manner at all times on the set of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom".

Another source said he "works his ass off, likes to have a beer once in a while like everyone, but doesn't show up drunk to set.

"And he isn't dressing like Johnny Depp," they added. "He has always dressed in that bohemian style."

The notes also reference Heard allegedly being made to feel like a pariah by the film's director, James Wan, in regards to her high-profile legal battle with Depp.

"He raised his voice @ me — 'I can't even post about Aquaman' — made it like it was my fault – I said 'I'm sorry,'" Dr Hughes' notes said in reference to Wan.

The Variety report claimed Heard was almost fired from the sequel.

During her defamation trial, Heard claimed in court that Warner Bros. did not want to include her in the sequel, and claimed her role was "pared down" and action scenes were "taken away".

However, in a September 13 interview with Variety, director Wan said Heard's role in the film was always going to be smaller as the storyline had shifted focus away from her.

In 2018, following the original film's release, Heard's attorney received a letter informing them about their decision to let her go - reportedly owing to her lack of chemistry with Momoa.

Ultimately, Heard was not fired. A source told Variety this was because Elon Musk, Heard's ex, had one of his lawyers send a "scorched-earth letter to Warner Bros. threatening to burn the house down" if she was not allowed to return.

The studio obviously caved, but it is believed that Heard's role has been drastically downsized.

Allegedly at least two scenes featuring Heard as Mera were cut — including an action sequence and a love scene — according to people familiar with the production. In the trailer released the same day as her therapist notes, she is only visible for a split second.

Outside of the film's production, there does seem to be a personal rift between its stars.

Momoa unfollowed Heard on Instagram in recent months, with one source telling Variety he even went as far as blocking her so she also could not follow him.

Choppy waters indeed.
