"There is not a better moisturiser on the planet." Just 7 products Alexa Chung carries everywhere.

Alexa Chung. The queen of effortless, understated beauty. She was the ultimate 'It girl' of the mid-2000s, cementing herself as an icon in both the fashion and beauty world. And if her recent interview is anything to go by - she still very much is.

She sat down with British Vogue as part of the 'In the Bag' series, sharing each and every essential item she carries around in her (very roomy) Chanel handbag.

From the scraps of fabric she likes to stroke to 'old-timey' headphones, a copy of the New Yorker and a pencil case - Alexa Chung's bag is chaotic in all the very best ways.

But like any good beauty aficionado, it was her selection of non-negotiable beauty products that got us all excited.

There was a cult moisturiser. A fragrance. A lipstick in 'the perfect shade'.

Yes, it's all deliciously pervy.

Below, we look at seven products Alexa Chung carries absolutely everywhere.

Regime des Fleurs Rock River Melody, $225 USD (about $357 AUD).

Ever wondered what Alexa Chung... smells like? Now we know!

"This is the fragrance I'm wearing at the moment, that my friend Christopher Niquet designed with Regime des Fleurs, and it's called - it's the best name of anything ever - Rock River Melody," she said. "How good is that?"

"It smells like a smokey-ish bar, but it also smells like opulent."

That's literally Alexa Chung encapsulated in a fragrance, no?

On the website, the scent is described as 'a muddy ride on horseback in sparkling green Fontainebleau forest' - and honestly, get in our nostrils, immediately.

It looks like this fragrance currently only ships to the US (sad!), but if you've got a friend over there, get them to pull some strings!

If you're looking to snag something similar locally, we reckon Tom Ford Tobacco Oud EDP, $385, sounds like it could have similar smokey notes. Can't guarantee a sparkling green Fontainebleau forest, though :(

Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream, $390.

Chances are, you've seen this skincare and haircare brand doing the rounds on celebrity social media - it's everywhere. And there's one product, in particular, that's reached cult status - The Rich Cream.

"I'm obsessed with moisturising. There is not a better moisturiser on the planet than Augustinus Bader's The Cream," Chung told British Vogue.

"This is not a spon," she adds, laughing.

At $390, it's quite possibly one of the spendiest moisturisers going (up there with La Mer, anyway) - but if you're prepared to really splurge for that slice of celebrity-endorsed skincare, this is the ticket.

Collection Colour Lash All Day Wear Colour Mascara Clear, £2.49 (about $5 AUD).

"My eyebrow gel, it's from Boots. It's really cheap," said Chung.

While she doesn't say what brand it is, we had a stalk on the Boots UK website and it looks like a mascara called Collection Colour Lash All Day Wear Colour Mascara in Clear - which works out to be under $5. So, yeah - it is nice and cheap!

But hang on... a mascara for your brows?

"It's actually see-through mascara but I use it for my eyebrows. It keeps them up so you can look constantly surprised."

We love a good multitasker.

While we may not have Boots in Australia (an actual crime), it looks like you can snag a two-pack on Amazon Australia - only it's currently sold out (we wonder why!).

Code8 AM/PM lip balm in Chameleon, £26 (about $46).

Because put simply, "No one needs a chapped lip."

And goodness, isn't that something we can all agree on?

This luxury tinted lip balm is pretty spendy at around $46 AUD, but if you're looking for something similar (that you can actually... get in Australia) you can never go wrong with Lanolips Tinted Lip Balm, $14.95.

Altitude Oil by de Mamiel, $59.40.

While it's probably more in the 'wellness' category than beauty, we reckon this one is pretty noteworthy, with Chung sharing: "This might be the best thing."

"You can rub it on your pressure points, and you breathe it in. It's really calming and nice. So if you're maybe scared to fly or you've got a big meeting - and they'll be like, Alexa? Sorry, are you sniffing your wrists?".

And she's sold us again.

Code8 Matte Lipstick in A1.

When you think of Alexa Chung's go-to beauty look, hands up who thinks of a red lip? Same!

However, turns out she's more a fan of a neutral 'your-lips-but-better' kind of hue.

"Here's a lipstick. Not the most charming name. It's called A1. It's a peachy lipstick. I don't stray far from the classics. I like a salmony mouth, looks-wise," she shared. "This will annoy a certain kind of section of society."

By the looks of it, this specific shade has been made for Chung (Code8 offer personalised lipsticks and Chung is an ambassador for the brand).

But if you're looking for something similar, we reckon NARS Lipstick in Orgasm, $39, is a great option.

A (horse-shaped) hair clip.

At one point, there's a very specific horse-shaped hair clip Chung pulls out of her bag. She doesn't say where it's from, or why it's in the shape of a horse, but it's apparently one of the hair accessories she always carries.

"A pony clip. This is a hair accessory. When I'm looking through handbags, often I find bits of jewellery, or rings, or whatever that I've lost," she said. "Horse clip is one of those."

While we're keen to know where to snag a fancy horse clip, you can find a huge selection of other snazzy hair accessories and clips here.

So, there you have it! A pervy peek inside Alexa Chung's handbag.
