Open post: What's happening in your world?

It’s been a big week for us all – did you survive?

It’s here again, our Sunday night open post. If you haven’t heard of this before, it is a place where you can share whatever you want. Your parenting wins, your parenting fails. And everything in between.

I’ll kick us off.

What a week it’s been. Back to school, back to routine and back to having three coffees before 9am to survive my early mornings.

My parenting win this week was ironing – I did it. Only the school clothes, but still, that’s more than I’ve ironed over the past six months so I see it as a total win.

On the other hand I also had a major fail - I completely forgot to enrol my boys in soccer for the winter season. Whoops!

It’s been cricket mania in our house (how was that game on Wednesday night! Soo close) so I completely forgot about soccer rego.

Why do they make it so early? They don’t start playing until late March anyway.

Unlike soccer, our swimming lessons go back this week but both boys are still asking if they can do yet another activity; gymnastics, tennis and karate are some they are considering.

Personally I want them to start a musical instrument instead of taking on a third sport. It could be because I value music as a life skill or it could be because I want to relive my childhood win at a particular regional Eisteddfod (the only thing I ever came first in, ever).

What after school activities are other kids doing?

My youngest starts big school this year. Is it too much having after school activities, as well as, the new world of big school?

I’d love to hear what you guys think and how your week went. Are we back in routine or are we struggling with 6am wake ups still?  I know I am definitely the latter…

Have a great week.
