Sport in 5: We're days out from the AFLW grand final, but there's just one problem.

Footy fever has gripped the nation as the final round of the AFLW draws to a close, Suncorp Super Netball is chugging along nicely and the AFL seems to be kicking goals off the field.

Crows kick into the AFLW grand final but venue remains a mystery.

We’re five days out from the first-ever AFLW grand final clash and, um, nobody seems to know where it’s happening?

On Sunday afternoon, the Adelaide Crows confirmed they’ll be flying up to Brisbane to meet the Lions on home turf this weekend after crushing the Collingwood Magpies by 24-points, but the venue of the match remains shrouded in mystery.

The AFL will confirm the location of the decider today (*cough* The Gabba *cough*) but the uncertainty didn’t dampen the South Australians spirits at Olympic Park Oval yesterday.

The AFL may be ready to welcome their first trans players to the field.

While the AFL men’s competition has not yet had an openly gay player in its midst, the league is continuing to actively take steps towards greater inclusivity of queer footballers.

The AFL says processes are now in place to consider any trans gender players who may wish to play at an elite level after supporting Broken Hill woman Kirsti Miller, who was barred from state leagues after undergoing gender reassignment surgery.

Football operations manager Simon Lethlean said the issue would continue to be dealt with on a “case-by-case basis”  across the AFL and AFLW.

“We would use the appropriate combination of medical and legal experts and myself and speak to the person in question and deal with the facts and work through them as their circumstances apply,” he told the Herald Sun.
