Abbott claims attacks on his family have been ‘hurtful’.

Tony Abbott has today claimed in an interview on Network Ten that the strong criticisms of his Budget and the way his family life has made headlines has been “hurtful and upsetting”.

“I don’t pretend for a second that people have been cheering in the streets because it’s a tough budget,’’ Mr Abbott said.

“I accept that one of the penalties of being in public life is that you will be unfairly criticised by people who don’t know you.

“I don’t dwell on it…The important thing is to be as protective as you can be for your family but get on with the job and that’s what I’m utterly focused on.”

Obama believes Michelle won’t ever run for office.

President Obama has revealed that his wife Michelle Obama is unlikely to ever run for the role of President of the United States.

When asked in an interview last week how he would feel if she wanted to, Obama said, “Where did you take my wife? I was sure that there had been an alien body-snatching going on. One thing I can promise you is that Michelle will not run for office.”

Man charged with stealing human skin.

A man from the US, Gary Dudek, 54, has allegedly stolen $A386,260 worth of human skin from Mercy Philadelphia hospital between November 2011 and July 2013.

According to court records, hospital employees grew suspicious when they saw Dudek carrying skin grafts to his car. Surveillance footage then confirmed this was not an isolated incident.

Philadelphia police are still unclear about the exact motive behind the crime and what Dudek used the grafts for.

Reports suggest Meriam Ibrahim could ‘be freed’ from death-row.

Meriam Ibrahim, the Sudanese woman sentenced to death for refusing to convert from Christianity to Islam, will supposedly be freed in the next few days.

Since her arrest, the 27-year-old has been held on death row with her young son and newborn daughter.

Today, Abdullahi Alzareg, the under-secretary at Sudan’s ministry of foreign affairs, has said: “The related authorities in the country are working to release Meriam through legal measures. I expect her to be released soon.”

However, Ibrahim’s lawyer Elshareef Ali Mohammed is still skeptical.

“If they were to release her, the announcement would come from the appeal court, not from the ministry of foreign affairs. But at least it shows our campaign to free Meriam is rattling them. We must keep up the pressure,” he said.

Abbott responds to reports there will be welfare cuts to those who fail drug tests.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has responded to News Corp’s statements that welfare recipients’ payments would be cut if they failed a job-required drug test, or refused to undertake one.

On the Bolt Report on Channel 10 he said, “… as far as I’m aware you couldn’t even do that kind of thing without the cooperation of the states, so it doesn’t look to me like the sort of things that are likely.”

Social services minister Kevin Andrews has also previously said, “we won’t rule this in or out”.

Google offers opportunity for people to ‘be forgotten’ from its search engines.

Google was recently required by the European Court of Justice to allow people the opportunity to remove “inadequate, irrelevant, or no longer relevant” results from their search engine.

Within 24 hours, 12,000 Europeans had applied to be forgotten on Google searches.

When the judgement was first handed down an advisory committee set up by Google labelled the ruling “disappointing”.

“The court’s ruling requires Google to make difficult judgments about an individual’s right to be forgotten and the public’s right to know,” they said.
