No, we’re not done for red carpets for the year just yet.
Tonight all your favourite local actors are at the AACTAs (try saying that three times fast!)
Not sure what they are? I’ve been reliably informed that it’s the Aussie equivalent of the Oscars. Short for the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards, they are Australia’s highest film and television awards that recognise “film, television and documentary screen craft excellence.”
They’re also a good excuse for us to spend our evening flicking through a bumper gallery of fancy frocks on a red carpet.
Fancy is the operative word here – after the Arias last week which was all about eccentricity, colour and just plain shock value, this is much more glamorous.
This year it was all about rich modern jewel colours, with Sunrise presenter Edwina Bartholomew and E! Australia host Ksenija Lukich spearheading the trend of burnt orange. And don’t get us started on Sophie Monk’s killer ensemble that saw her throw the red carpet rulebook (long dresses only) out the window.
