9/11 - Never forget

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the horrific attacks on the World Trade Centre, the Pentagon and the United 93 flight that was brought down in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. These tragic events claimed 2977 lives, and they changed the world forever. Here we remember 9/11 and the subsequent events that unfolded over the following decade. Twin tower attacks

Early morning on Tuesday September 2001, four passenger planes were hijacked by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists.

The towers collapse

Two hours after American Airlines flight 11 and United Airlines flight 175 crashed into the Twin Towers, the buildings collapsed.

Dangerous debris

People flee from clouds of poisonous dust and debris from the fallen towers that billow through the streets of Lower Manhattan.

Pentagon attacks

Meanwhile, one hour twenty minutes after the attack on the Twin Towers, the hijacked American Airlines 77 flight slams into the southwest E-ring of the Pen
