Where are they now? '80s heartthrobs.

The 1980s: The decade of leg warmers, Australia winning the America’s Cup, of yet another Madonna reinvention, tensions between Hawke and Keating… oh and of some extremely good looking men. Heart throbs we called them back then. And they did indeed make us, you know, throb.

Whether you were a pre-teen with posters taped to your ceiling, a high school graduate imagining a future husband, or a considerably older woman who simply appreciated a fine moustache – this was a decade that just kept giving.

MacGyver. Mullets. Ray bans. And muscle tees.

But what ever happened to John Cusack after he stood outside Ione Skye’s window with his stereo hoisted high above his head? And what did John Stamos do when he was no longer living in that very glorious Full House? And most importantly: Did Jason Bateman stay gorgeous?

Get the popcorn, and prepare for a giggly school-girl type trip down 80s heart throb memory highway.

Rob Lowe

You’ll be glad to know that the Brat Pack actor grew even more into his dimples (if that was at all possible) and those sparkly blue eyes you spent your pre-teen pimply years gazing into, didn’t fade.

Following the near-instant success of his role in St. Elmo's Fire, Lowe garnered a cult-like following. But it wasn't until nearly a decade later, after struggles with drug and alcohol abuse, that Lowe resurfaced on the small screen in political TV drama The West Wing.

Almost two decades later, the now 51-year-old has had success in TV shows like Brothers and Sisters and Parks and Recreation.

Most recently, Lowe acted alongside Candice Bergen in the tele-movie Beautiful & Twisted.

Don Johnson

He was everyone's favourite television cop, Detective Sonny Crockett. But whatever happened to Don Johnson?

In between making music and marrying Melanie Griffith (twice), the actor and producer played another television cop on Nash Bridges from 1996-2001. More recently, the 65-year-old had a recurring role on the HBO series Eastbound & Down.

On a side note, Johnson's daughter Dakota is now also well and truly in the family business, scoring the lead role as Anastasia Steele in the controversial 50 Shades of Grey film. Daddy must be proud.

Val Kilmer

When you think of '80s films, Top Gun is a cult classic. While Tom Cruise went on to find huge success in the international acting arena, Val Kilmer continued to work just as much - although on lesser known projects.

In the '90s Val starred in Batman Forever and Heat before branching into the television series Entourage and musical production The Ten Commandments: The Musical the following decade.

In recent times the 55-year-old made his directorial debut and also lobbied The United States' Congress on behalf of the Equitable Access to Care and Health Act. Isn't he multitalented?

Jason Bateman

He may have started out as Justine Bateman's little brother. But after launching his career in '80s shows Silver Spoons and The Hogan Family, it didn't take long for Jason to catch up to his Family-Ties-famous big sister.

Since his 1980s debut, Bateman's career has been on the up-and-up. In the early noughties he landed a starring role as Michael Bluth in Arrested Development, for which he won a Golden Globe.

He has been in too many films to count. Worthy of a mention are the 46-year-old's roles in Juno, Horrible Bosses and Hancock.
