real life

How to improve your life in 60 seconds. Yes, we're serious.

Sceptical? Just try it. You’ll see.

If you’re anything like me, you probably find yourself getting a little overwhelmed having a stressed-out meltdown sometimes every second day.

Running late? Missed the bus? Looming deadline? TIME TO FREAK OUT.

So yes, I was very sceptical when I heard about a website offering a quick meditation which promises to fix your life in one minute.

Meditation has never been my thang: I either a) fall asleep or b) panic because I can’t clear my mind enough to do the damn meditation designed to STOP panic properly.

Yes, I was sceptical.

And so I headed to the Pixel Thought website with plenty of eye rolls and even more doubt.

But you know what? It works. It ACTUALLY works.

The idea is simple: the visitor is met with some calming music and a screen full of stars, before being invited to type what is bothering them into a large circle in the middle of the page.

Puts it into perspective, doesn’t it?

Then, you are greeted with some words designed to put those everyday hassles into perspective:

Everything is okay.

Your life is okay.

Life is much grander than this thought.

The universe is over 93 billion light years in distance.

Our galaxy is small.

Our sun is tiny.

The earth is miniscule.

Our cities are insignificant.

And you are microscopic.

This thought…does not matter.

It can easily disappear and life will go on…

As those calming words flash onto the screen, the bubble containing your stressful thought shrinks and fades.

Phew.

And then you’re left 60 seconds later, completely calm and serene (hopefully).

Deadlines? What deadlines?

How do you calm yourself down when you are feeling stressed?
