Building a website like Mamamia is a bit like any major project really – babies, degrees, building your house – in that you want to celebrate the biggest milestones. We’ve had many and this place is a constant evolution while still trying to keep what we started with: fantastic content, great readers and a bit of fun.
Well, we reached another milestone last week when our Facebook friend page ticked over 10,000 fans. I was cutting an onion when it happened. We did a little dance. And then we said thank you.
And, truly, we mean it. Facebook is just one of the ways we reach out to our readers and we’re there everyday talking, chatting and hanging out. There’s always something happening and plenty to do.
We post extra content on Facebook that people won’t see on this website or on Twitter as a little extra something for our friends over there. It’s the least we can do.
And while there is always a conversation happening here, there’s a different chat happening among our Facebook friends. It’s always an enlightening read, in one way or another!
So, thank you. It’s fantastic and we couldn’t do it without you.
Now, it’s not much but we wanted to give away a prize to anybody who can come up with the best caption to the Obama photo we’ve posted to our Facebook wall right here. Just leave it in the comments below the photo and the one with the most ‘likes’ wins! Feel free to leave any other comments as well, we’ll be reading!
While you’re at it, if you haven’t already, ‘like’ our page and be our friend!
What do you win? A signed book pack from Mia! Mia will write a personal note of thanks on her memoir Mama Mia, a memoir of Mistakes, Magazines and Motherhood and her latest book Mia Culpa and ship it your way. Just to say thanks.
Now, let’s get cracking.

Congratulations mamamia! Our mother's group regularly meet at a beer garden. I take along my computer, and over a glass (or three) of wine we chat about anything and everything, using the mamamia site as a spring board. All agree that there is enough humour, serious, controversial issues, fashion, current affairs covered to interest us all and some fabulous conversations and debates emerge. Everyone has a go at leaving comments too. So thank-you for adding to this fun time of our week.
your mother's group sounds awesome =)
Thanks Kay. We think so!! It took a couple of years to evolve to what it is, but so worth it :)
Can I join your mothers group??!! hee hee
Yes of course NewName. We love new comers!
When the competition is over I'd love to know what the real reason for the Obamas pulling those faces was! And what was the occasion?
