There's a very sweet story behind Orange is the New Black star Uzo Aduba's SAG Awards date.

If there’s ever a time to take a veeeeery careful look at the people around you and pinpoint the ones who will be going places in roughly 10 years, it’s now.

Because if they are anything like Orange is the New Black star Uzo Aduba, you’ll want to be fashioning quite the tight grip on them. Lest you end up at the Screen Actors’ Guild Awards.

Yup. Aduba took her high school prom date as her date to this year’s SAG Awards. And it didn’t even look awkward.

As much as we’d love to pretend Aduba gave her friend Mark the big call up after leading separate lives for years following prom, according to Aduba’s Facebook, the pair have been friends since kindergarten and well before ‘Crazy Eyes’ found her big break.

The actress tweeted a photo of the pair at both the prom and the SAG Awards, maintaining the idea that awkward high school prom photos don’t discriminate.

Even against people who end up at the SAG Awards.

Aduba won best actress in a comedy for the second year in a row last night.

The take-aways from all of this? Either become good at acting and you’ll end up at the SAG Awards, or alternatively, invite someone to prom who might become good at acting and you’ll end up at the SAG Awards.

Seriously. Keep your friends close.
