Stop the fashion world we want to get the hell off.
There we were innocently scrolling down our Facebook feed when it hit us.
This.
Those are peplum leggings. In gingham.
That’s British singer Pixie Lott at the 2013 Q Awards earlier this week and we’re torn over whether we should be excited that a pop star has chosen to wear pants as opposed to just a g-string or to be offended that we’ve borne witness to the world’s worse pants.
We hoped thought we’d seen the last of peplum pants when Kim Kardashian stepped out in a pair of animal print sateen ones in February, and like Regina in Mean Girls we feel comfortably saying ‘Celebrities, stop trying to make fetch peplum leggings happen!’
Let’s be clear this is not about Ms Lott, plenty of celebrities (and us regular folks) make fashion faux pas ALL THE TIME. Here are some of our favourites:
It’s probably going to be a tough call but is this Is this the ugliest fashion trend of the decade?
Like Mamamia Style on Facebook, go on it’s what Beyonce would do:

This all just seems to be ripping into people for having fun with their clothes and style of dressing or attempting to put Victorian 'women must only leave the house in a corset with their ankles covered' style rules on how to dress appropriately.
I'm sorry but leggings are not pants!!! They fall into the same category as tights, granted some people think they can wear them stand alone...... but they can't! Mainly because LEGGINGS ARE NOT PANTS!!!!!!
That's a pretty boring and cliched rant by you. Of course leggings can be "pants" if they look good and are on the right person - just like many items of clothing. As for these, maybe they aren't the best, but she wears them as well as you could hope.
I love being boring and cliché! But my boring and cliché rant doesn't change the fact that leggings aren't pants! More power to you if you think they are and pull them off!
I thought (from my limited understanding of fashion) that being a fashion trend setter meant breaking the rules.
Does this make the "leggings are not pants" brigade the tedious old fuddy-duddys of the fashion world?
if not like leggings as pants makes me a fuddy-duddy, dye my hair lavender and get me a walking frame! No need to get narky because I have a different view on leggings, I obviously get my fashion tips from Take 5 magazine... (which is well read by fuddy-duddys everywhere!)
(I don't really read take 5!!)
