Nicole Richie’s wedding dress. Would you wear it?

Nicole Richie married Joel Madden on December 11 and today pictures have emerged of her wedding dress, it was reportedly inspired by the dress Grace Kelly wore on her wedding day. Some have compared it to the swan dress Bjork wore on the 2001 Oscars red carpet and others simply adore it.

We asked Lifestyled‘s Paula Joye for her expert fashion opinion on the dress:

This dress is perfection. Nicole is a fledgling fashion icon so the pressure was on for her to knock this dress out of the park. And she did! She’s made the meringue modern by using tiered tulle instead of one big puffball and the antique lace long-sleeved bodice is astonishing – the key-hole front makes it elegant but still sexy. She’s part Grace, part Carolyn. The make-up and hair is flawless – nothing is competing with the dress or the brides smile. The only thing I’m not mad on is the bouquet – little to waterfall for my taste. I’m sure the gown is Marchesa and it will be the most copied frock of 2011. In fact I’m going to renew my vows just so I can wear it.

More details from the wedding – CBS news reports:

The couple married at the home of the bride’s father, Lionel Richie, on Dec. 11.

According to People magazine, Madden and Richie tied the knot in front of their two children. Daughter Harlow, 2, was their flower girl, while son Sparrow, 15 months, acted as the ring-bearer. The two exchanged vows under a tent constructed to resemble a French garden.

The bride wore three different dresses, all designed by Marchesa, according to the report.

A live elephant was also present for the nuptials (for good luck), along with celebrity guests including the groom’s brother and Good Charlotte bandmate Benji Madden, Samantha Ronson, Khloe Kardashian, Gwen Stefani and husband Gavin Rossdale.
