Ladies and gentlemen, you might want to sit down before you read this:
Weet-Bix has changed its recipe in a big way. A biiig way.
That doesn’t sound like much, but of all the health and beauty-related stories that came to our attention this week, this one surprised/bemused us the most. Which is saying something because the past seven days have been full of interesting tidbits (the man who played violin while surgeons operated on his brain comes to mind).
What’s so exciting about it? You’ll understand in a moment.
For your reading pleasure, The Glow team has cherry-picked the three top stories of the week, just in case you missed them. Drum roll, please…
We have a question about the new Weet-Bix: It’s selling out all over the country and costs more than twice as much as the originals. So why all the hype? Well, it’s very, very good news for a certain dietary demographic…
One of these cleansers is sold every three seconds. There’s a good reason why: We promise, it’s the fastest way to remove your makeup, which is perfect if you’re the type who truly can’t be bothered to take it off your face before bed. We tell you why it lives up to the hype, and where you can get it.
That diet trick all your friends are doing? It’s a bad idea: This is a popular method for keeping an eating plan ‘on track’ – but our fitness editor Nat wasn’t convinced it was a good idea. So she decided to look into the trend – these are her findings.

I agree with Michelle. It can be so hard to find healthy gluten free alternatives - despite the general consensus that gluten free is, in itself, "healthier" so much of the "health food" section is now over run by junk. As a coeliac myself, I am excited to try the new gluten free weet-bix. People constantly tell me how much choice there is in gluten free food these days. Whilst this is true to some extent, very few of these products are suitable everyday foods, either laden with sugar or fat or "treat" foods plastered with a gluten free label simply to entice people seeking a "healthier" junk food alternative. Yes, there are plenty of options for me if I want cake mix, biscuits, chips etc but a basic breakfast cereal isn't quite as easy to find.
I am a little concerned, however, this product may lead people to mistakenly believe wheat is gluten free!
Now if someone could just make a gluten free ryvita I'd be happy!
Do you like any of the Orgran crispbreads? I saw a Quinoa one today in Coles!?
OK, I read this a little fast, didn't realise that I was a LIST of links to various articles, and thought you were flogging Weetbix as a make-up remover! #novelidea
