Trends used be a lot easier to identify; in the 70s flared jeans and a Boho aesthetic reigned, the 80s had punk and power dressing and the 90s was all about grunge mixed with feminine slip dresses.
Now, the stuff you wore in the 90s is considered vintage (sob) and with fashion designers revisiting trends at whiplash speeds, it’s hard to know what to risk buying, what to hang onto and what to erase entirely from our fashion consciousness.
It’s not about ditching everything you own in favour of a whole new wardrobe, most of us stick to our flattering tried-and-true pieces (hello, striped tees), but want to update our wardrobes with a few new pieces each season.
Read on for the trends you should Keep, Risk or Ditch in 2014 – it’s just like Snog, Marry, Avoid but for your wardrobe.
KEEP/BUY:
Pink coats, flat shoes and leather jackets.
Shop: Pink coats: Topshop, asos. Flat shoes: Seed, Senso. Leather jackets: asos, The Iconic.
If you’ve been paying close attention to style bloggers or Instagram recently you may know that pink coats are going to be in for our Autumn/Winter. If you wouldn’t be caught dead in a shade akin to the Pink Panther, when it’s mixed in with stripes, greys and a monochromatic palette the colour looks less like the sugary, sickly pinks you associate with girls toys.
There’s also some good news for your feet, flats are making a resurgence. You might not want to slip your toes into the shower shoes Christopher Kane is trying to make happen but the espadrilles newer cousin, the slip-on sneaker has been lauded as the shoe of 2014. Pop those ridiculously high, impractical heels into storage because even the King of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, sent models down the catwalk in sneakers at his Haute Couture SS14 show last week.

This is one of the exciting
article I have come across recently. I also have a similar blog about Massage Rockhampton
I'm 5'9 and when I was younger alI I lived in flared jeans but I bought my flares in two length. Long for when I wore heels and short for flats. They always made my butt look amazing so I'd wear flares again. I thought mullet/hi-low dress and skirts looked stupid. Never bought into that one. The wedge sneakers were dumb. Sneakers are supposed to be COMFORTABLE. I LOVE PEPLUM so I was sad to see it on the ditch list. I have a big tummy and peplum hids it, emphasizes my small waist and wider hips and makes me feel sexy. I think I'll keep it. I may try a pink coat but not sure I want to spend money on something so trendy. Tutu skirts are a big NO and I'm over weird prints. Want some animal print in my life. LOVE a leather jacket. Found a tan one so all I need is a good black one.
