Cindy Crawford is naked in Allure magazine. And 43.

[UPDATE: More pix from the shoot after the jump….]

I looked at this photo for a while before deciding my position. I wonder what yours will be when I tell you she posed like this for the “anti-aging’ issue of the US beauty mag Allure.

And that the caption on the photo reads: “This is what 43 looks like” – [coughbullshitcough]

“Cindy Crawford’s skin-care regimen includeds a day cream with antioxidants, a sunscreen, a night cream, and an eye cream. She also swears by microdermabrasion – and protecting the skin on her hands, neck, and chest.”

Look. She’s hot. She looks hot. But I’m going to go out on a limb here and venture that there are a few other ways Cindy Crawford looks like this and I’m not just referring to genetics. THIS is what shits me. Not the fact that she’s done whatever to herself. Fine. She’s Cindy Crawford and her brand is about looking young and beautiful and whatever. Her choice.

But to say “THIS IS WHAT 43 LOOKS LIKE” and pretend it’s all about her fucking antioxidants? That’s right up there with Nicole Kidman insisting it’s all about the sunscreen.

Because as hot as Cindy looks – and as much as any woman is entitled to look as hot as she wants to (this isn’t about all women over the age of 25 putting bags on their heads and retreating to comfortable shoes) – this is NOT what 43 looks like – unless you have had serious injectibles AT LEAST. AND A SHIT-LOAD OF AIR-BRUSHING ON TOP OF THAT. There. I said it.

Now it must be said that Cindy did not write the caption. They are not direct quotes – they are the magazine’s words. I did a bit of digging and found this quote from Cindy last year:

“Past a certain age, creams work on the texture of your skin but to
restore elasticity, I count on Botox, collagen and vitamin injections.
I have a very simple, healthy life that works miracles. I drink a lot
of water, watch what I eat, and exercise. But I owe the quality of my
skin to my cosmetic surgeon.”

The magazine not mentioning all this, all the SURGERY involved in looking the way Cindy Crawford does at her age? Not to mention all the photoshopping????

THAT, my friends,  is why so many of us look in the
mirror and think: “Why don’t I look like that when I’m the same age, or
younger?”

Shameful.
