This t-shirt only costs $32 but we don't know anyone who would buy it.

Not a day goes by that we don’t wish someone, anyone, would design a t-shirt depicting menstruation.

And friends, we’re glad to report that day is finally here.

American Apparel is selling a “Period Power” t-shirt, which features a screen-printed “self-pleasing artwork” of menstruation and masturbation and 32 clams is all that’s separating you from owning this baby.

Just an FYI, you might want to quickly scroll down this next image if you’re at work/on the bus/in view of small children.

The graphic design on American Apparel’s popular Power Washed Tee is part of a collaboration from 20-year-old artist Petra Collins and The Ardorous, the all-female online art platform she curates.

Half of the proceeds will go to the art platform which sounds like an excellent plan for an artist who “creates portraits exploring female sexuality and teen girl culture.”

The polarising t-shirt has garnered negative reactions like “that’s gross” from the female population, which begs the question, why is a normal female function considered disgusting?

Collins addresses the controversy in an interview with Vice magazine.

“It’s funny that out of all the images everywhere, all of the sexually violent images, or disgustingly derogatory images, this is something that’s so, so shocking apparently.”

“It’s also so weird to me that female masturbation is totally different than male masturbation. Male masturbation is celebrated in movies and culture. In American Pie or whatever it’s something that’s talked about, whereas female masturbation just isn’t a thing.”

The Ardorous X American Apparel collaboration also include the “Wet Tee” and “Loser” t-shirts.

And also?

Very NSFW.

American Apparel and CEO, Dov Charney are no strangers to controversy with a long history of drawing attention to themselves. From the time they held a plus-size modelling contest to well, just about every campaign involving undies or leotards.

Take a look through some of the clothing chain’s most controversial moments.
