Well, this is a bit exciting.
Excuse us while we indulge in some self-congratulation. It’s just that here at Mamamia, we’re beyond proud that the world is recognising what we already know – we work with some amazing women.
Our Publisher and Founder Mia Freedman and our Editor In Chief Jamila Rizvi have been announced as winners in the 100 Women of Influence Awards.
The awards, which are run by The Australian Financial Review and Westpac, showcase Australian women who are making a big difference, in one way or another.
Here are Mia and Jam, being very influential.Mia is in the ‘Business Enterprise’ category and Jamila is in the ‘Young Leaders’ category.
Yesterday, the results of a study by Child Welfare Agency Plan International made for sobering reading – young women are shying away from leadership roles at an alarming rate. Which is why we need visible role models like Mia and Jamila more than ever.
There are 100 winners across 10 different categories – board/management, innovation, public policy, business entrepreneur, diversity, young leader, global, social enterprise or not-for-profit, philanthropy and local/regional.
It’s the third year of the awards and nominations have been chosen by a nine-member judging panel over the last six weeks.
If you’d like to see the full list of winners, go here.
Congratulations, Mia and Jam. We couldn’t be prouder.

Good stuff. Do they get a plaque of trophy with names engraved on them?
