So you thought things were bad when Borat introduced the mankini? Well, you ain’t seen nothing yet, friends.
The one-shouldered Speedo (official name: The String Latéral Flash) may not have popped up on St Kilda or Bondi beaches yet, but come summer, who knows what will happen….
The, um, garment, is a little like a pair of speedos crossed with an 1990s off-the-shoulder-top. And it leaves nothing whatsoever to anyone’s baseless, crude, graphic imaginations.
Awarning: These photos may be a little NSFW. In fact, we heard more than a few stories of writers being banned from social media over the weekend after Facebook and Instagram officially declared the images ‘offensive.

Okay. Are we sure Facebook aren’t watching?
Sure, you’re sure?

Here you go.
And the behind shot? Well that resulted in our very own Em Rusciano receiving a warning for violating the community guidelines of Instagram. As Instagram stated in an email “Don’t share posts that aren’t yours and don’t share photos that show nudity or mature content.”
Upon viewing the photos, we had so so many questions for the men wearing the one-shouldered Speedo:
1. Why?
2. How do they stay in place?
3. Do they come in different sizes?!
4. Does it ever flop out?
5. Why?
The only conclusion we’ve been able to draw, is that there will be no Baywatch-style running on the beach with this little number.
What do you think of this new look? Offensive or amusing?

How will they explain this fashion style to their children / grandchildren, should they have progeny?
