Mariah Carey is a woman who makes her own decisions. From the glittering butterflies that flutter across her concert sets and lower back to her glorious yuletide hymns, everything she does is deeply, authentically Mariah.
This is why her latest album title really is the picture of perfection. She has called the record, which will be out on May 27th:
Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse.
You sure are MC. You sure are. In a video announcing the project, Carey explained that the title came from her one and only self-portrait, drawn when the diva was just three years old.
The portrait – “a creative visualisation of how I saw myself through the purity of a child’s heart” – is amazing in and of itself.
This isn’t the first time Mariah has opted for an unusual name, from The Emancipation of Mimi to her adorable twins Monroe and Moroccan, the Hero signer would never let convention get in the way of a really great title.
Speaking of great titles, this is going to be Mariah’s 14th studio release – a milestone even by diva standards.
We can’t wait to hear what the elusive chanteuse comes up with on the album proper.

Either she is some sort of artistic genius to have drawn that at 3, or my 3 year old has some serious catching up to do!!
Used to love Mariah Carey but come on... who has been calling her the elusive chanteuse?
