Happy Hump Day everyone.
We’re officially halfway through the working week and Friday afternoon is firmly within view.
On Wednesdays at Mamamia, we hold our weekly Open Post. It’s a chance for those of us on the editorial team to take a break and hand the reins over to you.
Instead of us picking the topic, you can chat about whatever you want; tell us what’s happening in your world.
Last night I went along to the I Support Women in Sport Awards with Mamamia’s Health and Fitness Blogger Natalia Hawk. While we love any excuse to get frocked up, it was also an incredibly special night.
Women’s sport still gets woeful recognition by the media and the general public when compared with men. And yet Australia is home to some of the world’s most phenomenal female athletes. It’s one of the reasons Mamamia has launched dedicated weekly coverage of women’s sporting achievements, that runs on our homepage every Saturday.
Spending an evening amongst past and present female sports stars like Stephanie Rice, Liz Ellis, Elyse Perry, Liz Cambage, Layne Beachley and Kelly Cartwright was pretty damn special and inspiring.
Unfortunately it’s also rare.

Our house settled on Tuesday! Yaaaaaaay! Such an exciting time for me and the boyf, we've taken a few things over, started work on the fence for the dog and we're planning to move everything over on the weekend. I'm a little overwhelmed, especially looking at my bank account today, the debt is crazy! But I know it's all good and we can afford it and at least I'm now paying off my own house instead of someone else's.
Having a rough time at work. We are seriously short staffed in all departments, but it seems to be up to our department to fill everyone else's and help them out. This in turn resulting in us staying back an hour every night (I now work from just after to lunch to just before midnight). I'm exhausted, ended up having a mini melt down when I got home last night because it all kind of hit me - buying a house, being in debt, I hurt my knee at work, other departments didn't finish their jobs so we had to, and me and another lady had to do all the heavy lifting. Today I'm hoping will be better, just have to get in there and work my arse off and hopefully I can go home a little earlier :) Sorry for the rant, just needed to vent :)
Had my first of many dental procedures needed to correct issues steming from dodgy genes and some shoddy dental work (Who fills between the teeth? according to my newest dentist the answer is 'idiots') done last week and it seems to be going ok.
Saw a great property online 3 bedroom split level massive backyard. Not in the greatest neighbourhood in fact its an ave off the worst st in Goonellabah. My mum suspects it was a Housing Commission sold off a few years back which makes sense as it looks like it was done up a few years ago but its basic. So tempted to call the credit union even though I only have 5% and I really need that for my savings peace of mind. But its been encouraging to see these sorts of properties available so in 12 months or so I could in theory have 10 - 15% and will be able to start to look for an investment property! which will eventually fund my masters and PHD in the UK or Copenhagen. I was getting discouraged.
Also wondering if mamamia is going to cover the AHPRA report clearing the chiropractor of breaking the babies neck and attributed it to a congenital condition the baby inherited from the father, I just thought as you'd reported on it it would be good to do an update on the issue.
