A cafe in Brisbane has caused a stir after it announced that patrons would only be allowed to dine at the venue if they ordered one meal each.
The cafe owner told the Courier Mail he was fed up with groups of people coming to the venue – only to order one or two desserts between them and only drink water.
And Martin Duncan says he can’t afford to pay his business costs as a result.
It’s a story that had everyone talking this morning, mainly because there are two ways you can look at this problem.
The first is to sympathise with Mr Duncan. It can’t be easy to run a cafe especially when the most ordered item on your menu is the one that’s free.
On the other hand however, there is argument to suggest that restaurant and cafe owners need to adapt to what is obviously a changing market. Because if you think about it, gone are the days when going to a restaurant meant ordering your own meal. These days, diners are more likely order a few meals and share.
Right?
And with the in mind, we thought it might be time to bring back this post we published by Rosie Waterland earlier this year. It’s the 8 most annoying things about sharing a meal with friends.
Chances are you’ve been guilty of at least one of these things in the past.

so annoying when people take out a calculator - I so would walk away from dinner bitching
I hate people who take over and order for everyone. Unless they have a banquet menu I dont understand why we cant be adults and order our own meal!
I dont want to have to fight 11 other people for a shred of beef and my allocated prawn!
