Best and worst of the week. What's happening in your world?

How’s your week going?

Happy Friday everyone!

Welcome to best and worst. It’s the post that’s been going almost as long as Mamamia itself and for a lot of our readers (some of the MM team included) it’s the stand out post of the week.

We like to think of this post as a community notice board – the place where you come and tell us what’s happening in your world. Sometimes there’s a problem. Sometimes there’s a funny story. Sometimes there’s even a delicious recipe or two (hint, hint).

You can also use the post as an opportunity to ask Team Mamamia a question or make a suggestion for a post you’d like to see.

Here are our best and worst of the week:

Worst: Nobody wants to return to a world where there are outbreaks of incurable diseases such as whooping cough, polio and measles. That’s why we were so horrified when we heard the shocking news this week that the rate of unvaccinated kids is up 500%.

Five. Hundred. Percent. Apparently, the number of parents registering ‘conscientious objection’ and refusing to vaccinate their children has sky-rocketed – thus risking their own children’s health and the lives of others in the community.

We understand that vaccinations are not perfect – occasionally, those who have been immunised can still contract the disease – but they are the best we’ve got to protect us against incurable diseases. That’s why this news is so scary.

Best: So far, nearly 5000 people have taken the Mamamia Vaccination Pledge. And we’re hoping for many more. You can sign the pledge below (and click here to read more about it). We’ll be meeting with the Health Minister in the coming days to make sure your voice is heard by the Government.

Over to you now – what’s been the best bit of your week? What’s been the worst? And what’s on your mind?
