I always thought that Robin and Ted should end up together; they were the Ross and Rachel of HIMYM!
The mother is the least important character in the whole show and this makes me feel uneasy since she's in the title. Ted's spent 8 years reminiscing to his kids about his mates and ex-girlfriend: how they would hang out in the bar or apartment, the crazy shit they got up to and how they never seemed to do any work.
In the scheme of things your mother wasn't all that important - what a great message for the kids. Oh, and btw the love of my life was not your mum, it was my ex-girlfriend.
Sidenote: why is there no issue with his ex (Robyn) going out and then marrying his good friend (Barney) - isn't there some bro code against that, especially if you still have feelings for her?
Yeah, I'm positive that Barney would have had some sort of 'rule' about this.
