In October 2012, Amy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
A year later, doctors announced the cancer was resistant to chemotherapy and would therefore eventually be terminal.
To show their love and support, friends and family travelled from five states last month to surprise Amy — whose favourite phrase is reportedly Dum vivimus vivamus, meaning “While we live, let us live” in Latin — on her 56th birthday.
The beautiful, beautiful result looked like this.
The video, posted on Vimeo by Amy’s daughter Christina Noellsch, was accompanied by the following touching caption:
“Amy has been an indelible force in the lives of so many people; as we all bear witness to her pain, I wanted to find a way to remind her how surrounded she is by support.”
Just beautiful.

Beautiful. Such a pity that we wait for a terminal diagnosis before we do these wonderful things. What are we waiting for? Life is too short.
Such a terrible disease, amongst all the pain it's good to see this ray of light.
