Caroline Lovell should be alive.
She should be watching her two daughters start to grow up. She should be spending time with her husband, laughing as they watch TV on the couch. She should be here with her friends and family.
She should not be dead. Not at 36.
An hour after Caroline Lovell gave birth at her Melbourne home in 2012, it’s been alleged, she told her midwives she needed to go to hospital — and that she felt like she was dying.
But Caroline was reportedly not taken straight away, and instead the midwives tried to calm her down.

I had a PPH after the birth of my first born - a great labour, lots of it done at home and only at the hospital for a few hours before he was born, everything was GREAT... until I haemorrhaged. With my second pregnancy there was no way I would have risked being anywhere other than a hospital. Such a sad outcome for this family, but I cannot understand for one second why they chose to take that risk...
When I had my 2nd child my doctor knew about how fast my previous labor had been and confirmed my belief that the hospital should contact him as soon as I let them know I am coming over. They did not. I had an epidural and started shivering and knew they should check me. They did and I was in stage 3. It happened so fast that the epidural barely worked. It was traumatic to my body and I screamed. One nurse shushed me. In the end the ob arrived just in time to pretty much catch my baby because they did not contact him when I had asked. Start to finish from my first contraction to baby arrival was 2 hours. What was wrong was that the nurses did not listen to me and in this case the midwives possibly took too long to get an ambulance.
