Kids react to same-sex marriage proposals. Your daily dose of adorable? Check.

This is awesome.

A group of kids aged between 5 and 13 were told to watch two proposals (one between a man and a man and one between a woman and a woman) and their reactions were filmed.

As the makers of the video said: “The opinions of children about these issues can give incredibly valuable insight into where our society currently stands and where we are headed as people. It’s important to discuss these topics openly in hopes of a better tomorrow through dialogue and conversation.”

Here’s the video. We think it’s ace.

If your video isn’t working or if you can’t be bothered to watch the entire 16 minute video, here it is bit-by-bit:

At 1.31 one of the girls gets confused- “A guy proposing to a guy?”

At 1.46 another girl is a little bit surprised.

At 2.43 they are more focused on the song than the fact that a girl is proposing to another girl.

At 3.37 one of the boys seemed to think Justin Bieber was in the video.

At 3.58 the children talk about how happy the videos made them feel.

At 4.09 they were asked what they thought people’s reactions would be when they watched the videos, and hoped that they didn’t think negatively about it.

At 4.36 they don’t understand why anyone would be angry or upset about the proposals, that “you should be happy that they’re getting married” and that if you want to marry someone of the same sex it’s fine, just like Macklemore said.

At 7.24 they are shocked that only 14 states in America legally allow gay marriage and one girl is going to have a word with Barack Obama.

At 8.33 their reactions to being told that you can put in prison or sentenced to death for being gay are priceless.

At 10.10 they are asked if they would still be friends with one of their friends if they are gay and all of them (bar one) would.

At 11.14 the kids are amazingly profound about the relationship between religion and gay marriage.

At 13.10 two girls have the best response to someone who doesn’t believe in the idea of same-sex marriage.

At 13.59 they have some inspirational and heart-warming stuff to say about people who might be afraid to come out.

Maybe kids know best after all?

What did you think of this video? Do you think gay marriage will be legal by the time they grow up?
