TODAY has announced that popular TODAY fill-in presenter Sylvia Jeffreys will be replacing Georgie Gardner as the news presenter.
The Brisbane born journalist has been with the team since 2012 as TODAY’s Sydney reporter. She has also co-hosted Weekend TODAY and presented the weather on Sydney’s evening news bulletin.
“I’m so thrilled to be joining this team, it is quite literally terrifying to be following you, someone who I admire so very much.” she tweeted moments after the announcement.

Sylvia replaced Georgie Gardner who announced she was leaving to spend more time with her family a few weeks ago.
A big congratulations to Sylvia. We are sure you will be fabulous!
Georgie will continue on with Channel 9, working on evening news bulletins, on 60 Minutes and as David Campbell’s co-host on Mornings while Sonia Kruger works on Big Brother.

Something is happening on Today... A big shake-up, I think.
Georgie leaving is just the beginning. Will Karl and Lisa soon be replaced with younger versions too? Sadly, I think yes.
Karl should have been dumped after the spider spraying incident. But the Oz electronic media seem to love that sort of moron-driven controversy. I wouldn't be surprised if he got a bonus for it. Who knows (puts tin foil hat on), maybe Georgie was asked to leave because she didn't grab a can of Mortein and join in the "fun".
I love Sylvia very happy with her. And note Today did not announce a new host, they announced a new newsreader.
