Reports that Schapelle Corby has threatened to take her own life.

Convicted drug smuggler Schapelle Corby has reportedly threatened to take her own life.

According to the UK press:

“Sydney’s Channel Ten network said at the end of its evening news bulletin that two officials had gone to the house where she was staying and she had grabbed a knife, threatening to kill herself. She allegedly told them she was fed up with being harassed by everyone, including the media.”

According to The Project, the head of the corrections division of the Bali justice office Sunar Agus said that when he entered the premises at around 9pm on Monday night, Corby seemed “mentally unstable” and afraid to have a conversation with him.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Mr Agus described the incident as follows:

“I can’t tell someone’s intention, but what I saw in front of me was that she tried to commit suicide. She took a knife, but the family stopped her and the parole officer stopped her.”

Corby, 36, appeared physically unharmed after the attempt, according to The Project.

News.com reports that a family source had dismissed the reports as untrue, saying the incident had been far less dramatic than reported.

According to the site, source said Corby, who is currently staying at the Kuta home of her sister Mercedes and brother-in-law Wayan Widyartha, “had been frustrated at not being able to leave her house and had declared that everyone would be happier if she were to kill herself.”

The incident comes amid growing rumours that Indonesian authorities are considering revoking Corby’s parole after she posed for press photos and her sister spoke to the media late last week.

Schapelle Corby may have her bail revoked, according to Indonesia’s Justice Minister.

After viewing the story which appeared on the Seven Network’s Sunday Night, Amir Syamsuddin has revealed he will make a decision within days.

“I am waiting for a complete report from the Bali Corrections Board, and in the meantime I’d like to announce that there’s a possibility I will revoke Corby’s parole,” Fairfax Media reported the Minister as saying.

The minister has expressed great displeasure about the Channel 7 interview with the Corby family, regardless of the fact that Corby herself wasn’t interviewed, The Project reports.  According to News Ltd, he has also said that if his office decides to revoke Corby’s parole it will be her family’s fault.

News.com also reports that the minister told Indonesian newspaper Kompas:

“If we are finally forced to take the decision (to revoke the parole), this is not removed from the family’s responsibility, which in my opinion, they didn’t show their concern to what we have faced.”

If sent back to jail, Corby will reportedly face years in prison, with no prospect of parole or sentence revision, according to The Project.

Corby has struggled with depression in the past. In her autobiography, she revealed that in 2008 and 2009 she was treated for depressions and bouts of psychosis while imprisoned in a small cell in the Kerobokan jail.
