Lamar Odom is reportedly conscious and talking.

Lamar Odom has reportedly opened his eyes and is able to communicate.

While the former NBA player is not yet of the woods, ET Online reports the NBA player communicated “yes” when asked if he wanted to see his children.

The 35-year-old former Los Angeles Lakers star also gave his doctors a thumbs up and said “good morning,” according to a spokesperson for Odom’s aunt JaNean Mercer.

E! News additionally reports that at one point, when the 35-year-old saw Khloe Kardashian by his bedside, he said, “Hey, baby” and gave her a thumbs up before going back to sleep.

“There has been some improvement,” a source told E!

Odom was placed in a medically induced coma and on dialysis on Wednesday after being found unconscious in a Nevada brothel on Tuesday, having suffered a heart attack and organ failure.

He reportedly had drugs in his system at the time he was discovered, and was said to be in critical condition.

Odom’s estranged wife Khloe Kardashian, 31, flew to Las Vegas earlier in the week to be by his side, and remains there. Kardashian has been in charge of Odom’s medical care, as the two are still legally married despite having separated in 2013.

The rest of the Kardashian family, as well as several of Odom’s basketball friends including Kobe Bryant, have also visited.

Kourtney Kardashian added on Instagram: “Believing in the power of prayer for this beautiful soul.”

Odom’s ex-wife Liza Morales and her children with Odom, 17-year-old Destiny and 13-year-old Lamar Odom Jr have travelled to be with Odom in hospital.

Odom reportedly opened his eyes after about 72 hours in the coma and according to E!‘s source, is no longer using a breathing tube.

According to TMZ, doctors have been using a breathing mask as a test; they reportedly plan on going back and forth between a ventilator and breathing mask to determine if Odom can breathe without heavy life support.

Doctors previously said the athlete could have severe physical and mental impairment if he woke from his coma, E! reports.
