In the latest diet wars salvo, a new study has found low protein, high carbohydrate diets could be just as effective as low calorie diets at promoting a long life as well as a healthy heart and good digestion.
Scientists know the only proven way to live longer is to drastically restrict calories.
But now researchers from the University of Sydney’s Charles Perkins Centre have found the same benefits with a low protein, high carbohydrate diet.
“We have known for many years that caloric restriction diets increase lifespan in all manner of organisms,” Professor Stephen Simpson, academic director of the Charles Perkins Centre and report author, said.

Carbs are key for maximum energy, stamina, concentration, recovery - they are the primary fuel for your body. Your brain is almost entirely fueled by carbohydrates so its pretty important you eat them.
I suggest all bread and pasta lovers read about diet plan where carbs are cycled through the week between low carb, higher fat and protein days and high carb, much lower fat and moderate protein days. This allows you to still eat carbs from clean sources, without adding body fat and enables you to better utilize fat for burning as fuel, as opposed to burning carbs and muscle tissue for fuel (more details: everydayhealthhero.com/can-carb-cycling-help-you-lose-weight / ). I'm using this method now for a 3 months , works well! My results have been so good that I get daily encouragement from my scale!. Also, psychologically, Since carb down only lasts a few days, I always know that carb up is coming soon! AND I really enjoy carb up! .
Eat everything in moderation people, and you'll be fine (I should take this advice myself.....moving on). Ps diets don't work
