Three quarters of Australians believe same sex marriage will happen, according to new polling conducted by Galaxy and commissioned by Australian Marriage Equality.
Support is strongest among women, for whom 80 per cent believe marriage equality will happen.
Now, supporters just need word from the Government. A decision – yay or nay – is likely to be made at Labor’s National Conference in December this year.
Australian Marriage Equality National Convener, Alex Greenwich, said the poll gives hope to supporters of equality.
“The majority of Australians who support full legal equality for same-sex couples will take heart from this poll because
it shows the tide of history is running towards equality and nothing can turn it back“, Mr Greenwich said.
“Our plea to the nation’s leaders is to get on with this reform instead of unnecessarily prolonging a debate which
threatens to create more division and pain the longer it goes on.”

Seems we are short on material on this site lately, the same topics raising their heads over and over and over - a bit more diversity would be nice, rather than the staff pushing their own personal agendas constantly.
If 80 percent believe it will happen (some time down the track I presume), that does not mean that they necessarily support it. This is a long bow to draw. Rick, dont read into stats and research more than exists. Just putting it out there, not expressing an opinion on the topic.
