Trigger warning: This post deals with domestic violence.
Detectives have charged a 49-year-old Dallas man with one count of murder following the discovery of a woman’s body inside a Dallas, Victoria home yesterday afternoon.
According the The Age, the man allegedly walked into the Broadmeadows police station and told officers he had killed his wife.
He will appear in Melbourne Magistrate’s Court today.
This tragic death brings the total number of women killed in circumstances of alleged domestic violence in Australia to 23 this year — and that’s not counting women killed violently in other circumstances.
The number of women killed each week by a partner or family member has almost doubled since last year. Domestic violence is the single greatest killer of women aged between 15 and 44.
Regardless of class, age, location, race or religion — every woman is at risk.
