1. Canadian shooting.
A gunman has shot and killed a soldier standing guard at Canada’s National War Memorial before shooting at least 30 times inside Canada’s parliament building.
CBS NEWS reports that the gunman was later killed during a shootout.
It is not known if there is more than one shooter and the entire Ottawa downtown area is in lockdown while police search for what they suspect may be other potential gunmen.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police have warned people in downtown Ottawa to stay away from windows and rooftops.
Most of downtown Ottawa is in lockdown with police going door to door in their search.
The Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, who was addressing his cabinet at the time, is said to be safe and left Parliament Hill for a secure area.
This vision was captured by an amateur cameramn of the shots fired in parliament house.
2. Victorian Shooting
Three family members have died after they were allegedly shot at a rural property in Wedderburn, Victoria, police say.
Officers were called to property, northwest of Bendigo, at 8.30pm (AEDT) on Wednesday following reports of gunshots, The Daily Mail reports.
A man then barricaded himself inside a home and after four hours, surrendered peacefully to police. He was arrested about midnight.
