Auburn Deputy Mayor Salim Mehajer facing intimidation charge after alleged kidnap threat.

Auburn’s controversial Deputy Mayor is facing a charge of intimidation after he allegedly threatened to find out where the father of a Lindt cafe siege survivor lived and to kidnap his children.

Police said along with the intimidation charge, Salim Mehajer was also served with an apprehended violence order (AVO).

The 29-year-old allegedly threatened Bruce Herat, the father of siege survivor Joel Herat.

It is alleged Mr Mehajer threatened Mr Herat at Anytime Fitness gym at Burwood on September 16.

Mr Mehajer is due to appear at Burwood Local Court on October 15 for the AVO and on November 19 on the intimidation charge.

In an email to the ABC, Mr Mehajer said he was aware of the allegations and justice would be served.

Mr Mehajer has been making headlines since his lavish wedding in August.

The wedding, featuring $40 million worth of sports cars, helicopters, motorcycles and limousines, closed down Auburn streets.

Concerns were also recently raised that Mr Mehajer, who is also a property developer, was entitled to vote on planning matters from which he could potentially benefit.
