1. Raped refugee says Immigration Minister is lying.
The Somali refugee who was raped and came to Australia for an abortion has denied claims by the Minister for Immigration that she changed her mind about having a termination after being flown to Australia.
Abyan – who was 14 weeks pregnant – was flown to Australia last week to have the abortion but without warning returned to Nauru on a chartered jet on Friday.
In a statement released on Saturday, Minister for Immigration Peter Dutton said Abyan had “decided not to proceed with the termination” and lawyers and advocates making claims to the contrary should be “ashamed of their lies” reports Fairfax Media.
But Abyan has responded saying Mr Dutton’s description of events was incorrect.
In a handwritten note she has said “I have been very sick. I have never said thate [sic] I did not want a termination,” she said in a hand-written statement which was photographed and sent to lawyer, George Newhouse.
“I never saw a doctor. I saw a nurse at a clinic but there was no counselling. I [also] saw a nurse at Villawood but there was no interpreter. I asked but was not allowed to talk with my lawyer.”

So teacher's should check for headlice? Really?
I can't wait for the REAL truth regarding this refugee woman to be revealed. I suspect she is being coached by someone. The government has far too much to lose to lie about this - and I'd like to think that they actually do have a conscience and are/were empathetic to her situation.
I agree! Something not ok here.
Because the Coalition would never intentionally lie to the Australian public?
Children over board............
Transparency is the only solution, Dutton needs to resolve this.
I agree. Also, the letter.....a woman who cannot speak English thus requires an interpreter has had support in writing this letter (nothing wrong there, it's a good idea). However, it starts to look really fishy when the Ls and As are in capitals, there's a single spelling mistake (thate) which seems forced. Wait, there's another error Blease instead of please... These are not errors made when learning English. Bs and ds get mixed up as does the spelling of words with diphthongs (said, counselling)... I don't know what's going on here but I suspect that the focus will be pulled from the important discussion and change of action around those stuck on Naru, including women clearly at risk of rape; to who said what when... I suspect someone's playing a dirty game but not very well.
So you want the government to release the private information they hold on this woman to the public?, why do you think your need to know is more important than her right to privacy?
I'd like to hear your ideas on why the government chartered an aircraft at great cost to the taxpayer to fly her to Australia..... Not give her what wanted....... Then fly her back again, when they could have.....Not given her what she wanted...,. Right there on Nauru for free, what possible gain was there for them in doing so and how is it more like the her having second thoughts.
