Mother’s Day gift buying? The struggle is real.
Since my mum started taking blood pressure medication a few years ago, my default Mother’s Day gift of her favourite liqueur is no longer an option.
Since then it’s been a series of clothing vouchers and my best so far last year – tickets to a theatre show. I really outdid myself, but I really stuffed things up for this year, because how could I possibly top that?
My first idea of a framed photo of my children eventually didn’t seem like the best idea in the world, seeing as I normally gave her those anyway. Then I came up with the perfect idea. She is always cooking (and eating) so why not get her something appropriate for the ultimate foodie that she is? Then I can eat the results with her – and that, my friends, is what I call a win-win.
So here are four of the most amazing gifts for mums who love food.
Just as an FYI, you should know that this is an advertorial for KitchenAid.
1. Enrol in a cooking class.
My mum is an amazing cook – when it comes to Italian cooking. However, once she tried recreating the delicious mango pancakes we get from our local yum cha joint. It did not go well.
They were so horrible she didn’t even let us try them and the only reason I know she even tried is because she whispered it to me next time I dropped by for coffee. So there it is, mum’s dirty little secret.
