Even the goddess who is Sarah Jessica Parker has been body-shamed by idiots.
Sex And The City fans gasped in collective horror as the untouchable SJP spoke this week about being sent a treadmill from a ‘very concerned’ director back in the 90s.
During a radio interview in the US, the now 50-year-old star revealed that whilst filming Honeymoon in Vegas, her weight came under major scrutiny.
“I was about do Honeymoon In Vegas and before that I was off to do another movie in Iowa and the producer of Honeymoon in Vegas was very concerned about me being fit for Honeymoon in Vegas. So, they sent a treadmill to Iowa.”
Sadly, even someone as young and fit as SJP fell prey to a creepy old bigot’s passive-aggressive instruction, dutifully working out like a crazy woman to get ‘fit’.
“I would very diligently go out every single day and run like a lunatic to this song. And then when I went to Iowa, on the treadmill, I would continue to run to the song. And then we went to Vegas to shoot Honeymoon In Vegas,” and I had a treadmill also in my room and I would get up every morning and run.”
As the only human in the universe to be able to legitimately pull off outrageous outfits that comprised mainly hot pants, trench coats, large flower brooches, and fedora hats, we’re clutching our pearls in disappointment that even SJP can be felled by body shaming.
We dare to dream that it might not happen now. That the vaguely more diverse Emmy’s red carpet was a nod to the fact Hollywood attitudes of old are slowly starting to change.
We only hope that in 2015, if a young actress was sent a treadmill by a ‘concerned’ producer, the only way she would be running would be in the opposite direction.
What do you think? Should a director be allowed to pass comment on his actor’s weight?
