People are sharing their best marriage advice in 3 words. What's yours?

Twitter is offering relationship advice now.

There’s a new trend taking over the internet this week. And if you’re seeking guidance on what makes for a successful long-term relationship, you may want to pay attention to this one.

(Just bring along a healthy dose of scepticism, okay?)

Hundreds of social media users are sharing their tips for a happy marriage online alongside the hashtag #MarriageAdviceIn3Words — and the results range from wise to downright ridiculous.

Some are treating the task seriously, sharing sweet and earnest advice like “never stay angry,” “communicate, trust, forgive” and “marry your bestie”:

Others are taking a humorous approach, suggesting offbeat, not-exactly-romantic tips for relationship success like “not enough drawers” and “kids kill sex”.

A small portion of the Twitter responses were straight-out lame — with some seizing on the hashtag to argue against marriage equality, or to reinforce age-old gender stereotypes.

As for our marriage advice in three words?

Well, we don’t think it’s possible to summarise the hard work that goes into a successful marriage so easily.

But if we had to, we’d start with: “I love you”.

And if that doesn’t work?

We’d recommend: “I am sorry”.
