A sign from above, surely.
This wonderful photo was taken yesterday afternoon, a big, bright gay-pride rainbow, right above St Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney.
Could anything give a clearer indication that the Catholic Church needs to change its views on same-sex-marriage than a bona fide ‘finger-of-God,’ appearing over the certified ‘house-of-God?’
The gorgeous image was especially poignant, after a ‘Pastoral Letter’ from the Catholic Bishops of Australia was sent home with school kids attending Catholic Institutions this week.
The letter declares, members of the Catholic Church “deplore injustices perpetrated upon people because of religion, race, sex, age etc.” And yet, Church officials continue to fail to recognise the legitimacy same-sex marriage.
To support same-sex marriage is to undermine the ‘very soul’ of matrimony, the leaflet states. According to The Catholic Bishops of Australia, marriage should only be between a man and a woman:
“Their physical, spiritual, psychological and sexual differences show they are meant for each other, their union makes them whole, and through their union ‘in one flesh’ they together beget children who are ‘flesh of their flesh’. They share the sameness of humanity but enjoy the difference of their masculinity and femininity, being husband and wife, paternity and maternity.”
Well, it appears even God is calling BS on that one.
What do you think about this picture? A sign from above?

The bible , specifically Genesis 9:15-17 explains the rainbow: "15I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.16Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
17So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.”
It's a rainbow, that's all. Is Islam, Hinduism, Judaism etc chaffing at the bit to recognise Gay marriage? Is actually their choice to oppose it, they can do that. The debate should be about whether our secular government should ban it not whether each religion opposes it or not because their ies are not going to change anytime soon.
