Just beautiful.
A new project pictures amputee war veterans in a way that we’ve never seen them before… and we can’t look away.
Photographer Michael Stokes, known for taking photos of male fitness models, decided to create a powerful collection of images demonstrating the strength and beauty of amputee war veterans after meeting Alex Minsky, a vet from the Gulf war.
All the men pictured happen to be very, very good looking, and very, very naked.
Stokes stated his aim was to portray the pride that these veterans have in their accomplishments, their bodies and their work. He treated them as though they were just another fitness model he was working with.
The photos have been so well-received, Stokes decided to take more and launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund a coffee-table book of the veterans.
The goal of the Kickstarter was $48,250, but is has already raised more than $209,000. The book will be titled Always Loyal and feature approximately 14 different wounded, United States Army, Navy and Marine veterans of The Gulf Wars. There will bios and details of how each person sustained their injuries.
